Your kinetic friend
CUC is an immersive art installation for public entertainment. It´s a small architecture from a postdigital era, an infinite space that turns into an interactive and playful event. Once inside, the cartesian reference vanishes, and instability, chaos and uncertainty are reasons for celebration. But opposite to a digital device, here sensuality – that is, the relationship between body and real space – is its active principle. Ultimately it is a low-fi kinetic sculpture, made from stretched elastic fabric, which is set in motion by the people inside of it and at night it can turn into a light painted living sculpture.
Since CUC´s birth, we have participated in art, architecture and light festivals, children’s festivals, museum, and cultural events around the world, such as FAD (Barcelona), Jardin des Tuileries (Paris), Bronx Museum (New York), Candem Night gardens (Philadelphia), Pavilion de Lanfant (Aix-en-Provence),Teatro Tantarantana (Barcelona), Jardí de Pedralbes (Barcelona), among others...

Only CUC
Only CUC is our most basic option. It consists on the plain structure alone, for outdoors or big indoors. It is used as a moving structure animated by its users in total rapture.
The space inside is like a new universe you can´t imagine from the outside. Once inside it has this hypnotic quality, with its homogenous milky light, the constant motion and the lack of angles, making its users go wild! A hamster wheel was never this fun.
We´ve done art, design and children festivals, museum events, private parties and even sold one to the organization AIRE Architecture in Moulins (France)

Light CUC
Light CUC is for after dark (or a light controlled environment), CUC´s white and translucent skin becomes the perfect surface where to project all kinds of media.
From the outside it´s a living projection screen. From inside the public gets immersed into a 360 projected space with all kinds of static or moving image.
Using 3D mapping to project on it, it becomes the perfect scenario for collaborations with multimedia, light and video artists.
CUC Paint
CUC Paint is another interactive, after dark (or indoors), experience, derived from Light CUC. In here we use the worm for real-time light-painting on its skin.
Connecting a tablet with a simple app for painting to the projector, and anybody (young and old) can try their hand at coloring the beast.
This can generate a multitude of events and performance situations. CUC as a sheltering canvas, painted in real time.
Big Bang CUC

Big Bang Cuc is Joan Cases theatre coproduction with Blink Flash for the stage. It is a dance and clown show for children created in and for the CUC.
A story full of humor and movement that presents the meeting of two beings from different galaxies in our planet, with the universal physical laws and a shared emotional and sensory journey.
In here the CUC is the central element for building the story. it is not a set design, but a full character in the play.
Big Bang CUC

Big Bang Cuc theatre play has been adapted for outdoors as well.
Children get to experience to play in a garden or park setting and at the end of it they get to play with the extraterrestrial friend!
You can book this show with us (for indoors or outdoors) any time. It is half hour of multidisciplinary fun, where design and theatre meet in a most surprising way!
Home CUC
Home CUC is for your home. Instead of a one day event, you could have a CUC in your home for your personal use.
In your country house, your backyard, in your huge living room (as a room inside of a room), in a terrace, in a children´s room. It can also be adapted to suit your space.
You are getting a living sculpture, as much as a small architecture for children and adults alike to play. A post digital tepee for little ones, it is a great meditation and reading space for adults. Or your personal 360 home movie theatre! With a projector you can get as wild as we do!
Bespoke CUC
Bespoke CUC is for new projects and collaborations.
Maybe you liked our CUC but have something different in mind. You can always commission us anything you need, from a site-specific installation (as the CUC was initially) to hybrid performance shows like Big Bang Cuc, where a play is born out of a design element (or vice versa) – for the classic stage or for non-conventional spaces.
We can also design bigger structures to host a myriad of events, related to art, music or entertainment -- for the private and the public sector -- or create public space interventions, which can also function in collaboration with performance artists.
Architects, designers, sculptors, theatre directors and performers we are a A-Team for multidisciplinarity.

Meet your dream team
CUC was conceived in 2003 by architect Cristina Guadalupe and designer Guillermo Laborde for the Contemporary Art Festival Un peu d´Alice in the gardens Le Nôtre designed at the Pavilion de Lanfant in Aix-en-Provence. The festival revolved around Lewis Carrol´s well known perception disorders, which inspired so many moments of Alice´s Wonderland. Taking this as our queue, our goal was to create a state of permanent alteration of the senses. A permanent disorder.
In 2019 theatrical director Joan Casas joined the team with his amazing theatre play Big Bang Cuc! thus conquering the stage.
